The two stars below, symbolizes two compliments from me for this book: 1. Intriguing book cover 2. The fact that it got published I wouldn't go further about how cliche the theme of 'friends with benefits' goes. There are several things that are simply not logical and doesn't suit GagasMedia's category of a book being published - weren't there rules about this in their website? About the fact that there can't be Mary-Sue characters and a cliche ending? 1. Mary-Sue characters aka flawless characters The two stars below, symbolizes two compliments from me for this book: 1. There are several things that are simply not logical and doesn't suit GagasMedia's category of a book being published - weren't there rules about this in their website? About the fact that there can't be Mary-Sue characters and a cliche ending? 1. Mary-Sue characters aka flawless characters There are no ugly people in this book. So far (yes, I only finished half of the book and peeked the end of the chapter), the characters being introduced are either perfectly built boys or beautiful girls. Even Trina, the ex-girlfriend of Jo was described by Jo as an attractive girl, regardless from the 3rd person narrative mentioned how she dress was uberly tacky. They're not just physically beautiful, no~ They're smart too. Take an example from Emi: She takes a bachelor degree with a GPA of 3.77 even if the studies she was taking were forced by her father. It doesn't make sense. She is a 'sex-addict', right? She must've been busy with one-night-stands rather than opening a book during her university years. Either that, she must've been really smart to multi-task - maybe even have sex while studying. But why does she end up working as an entrepeneur? With high GPA, a company must've had an eye for the beautiful and smart women, no? Secondly, she said she is into open-relationship, then why does she fuss when Jo's making fun of the stocks of bra? Emi is able to undress herself easily to strangers, but is annoyed when someone's playing around with new-stocks of bra? Hnn... As an extra: As a 'hunk', it does not make sense that Jo puts his ringtone with David Archuletta's Crush. David Archuletta's common fans are girls, I just can't imagine someone so manly as Jo listens to Archuletta. 2. Inspired or copying? There are several stuff that reminds me of scenes in chick flick movies I have watched. When Emi enters Jo's house and said, "Something smells, did you jerk around?" doesn't it remind you a little of Jennifer's Body? Also the fact that Emi tries to calm herself by thinking of Gucci bag and flat shoes - very, very Sydney White's rival inspired. Or copying? Maybe there are several other things that I've missed. I do sense a Meg Cabot inspired going on when the description of Jo's hot mess, the abs, the butt etc etc. I am not fond of books that have bad grammar mistakes. I know Pillow Talk is supposed to be a teen-lit, but come on, even Meg Cabot still writes in proper spelling. I find myself cringing every time I find ato instead of atau or kalo instead of kalau. 3. High-maintanence characters You simply can't relate to an oversex character like Emi. Especially if you're an Indonesian. Reading this is like reading a bad Gossip Girl (the TV drama) fanfiction. 4. Miscs I don't know, does this author gets sponsored by Hanamasa, Alfamart, Unilever and all the rest of companies mentioned in the novel? I wrote this critic simply to state that with these kind of fiction being indulged by the youngsters, I can see the reason why the Indonesian literature isn't progressing to a better stage. Fixing the grammar would be a start. Then the moral of the message or the aftertaste after reading a particular book would be the next to think about. Later, inspiring others to write would be the best achievement of a writer. Simamora, I'm looking forward for your next work. A much more down-to-earth novel that makes more sense to Indonesian readers.

Tapi setelah menginjak umur 20++ akhirnya menyadari, his book of real! The topic is simplicity but in our life. I feel the same things with Ema life’s. Thank you Babang, sudah membukakan bahwa life is short too spend alone!

There it is. Another bestfriends turn into lovers story, and I love it. I'd always had a thing for this kind of stories. And typical Simamora's books, demand us not to put them down until you've finished the last pages. No wonder I'd always get them done in one day, two days max. *nyolot* :p

I like when the author describe the character... Especially Jo. I like his character the most. He represent a good side of a man. If in my world, appeared once someone like him, I won't have hesitation to choose a man like him. In other way, I don't like the author way in describing Ems. She's too cheap, inconsiderate, a little bit hedonist, short thinking, I think she's a little bit "Hypocrite" .. hehhee.. sorry Christian Simamora, dear... I don't enjoy her character. Karakterisasi tokoh utama yang "too much slutty" and too much is never good -even for a fiction story, penggunaan bahasa Inggris yang belepotan, dan detail yang berantakan. The writer needs to learn more about writing a book first. I know he has made number of books, but I cannot lie that his work deserves only two stars which is bad for an author with, underlined -not "bottom line", number of books.

This is the first Simamora's book I've read. The comedy parts (although touch some Christian symbols) are somehow very original and I loved this book for that. Oh, and also the bonus item (the half naked Jo and Emi) hehe.... I didn't really understand the purpose, but I must appreciate it. I didn't really notice the plot because it's too mainstream and the heroin is way too b*tchy, but I look forward for the next project of him.

Learnt alot of new fun words here, such as 'cheesy' .. :D i guess ill use tat word in my daily life. okay back to the book. vewy cheesy and crunchy to read, even able to keep me awake for like 3-4 hours just to finish reading this book. Overall, so many things to learned, as in, friendship and the love thingy itself. Recommended! :)

Another CS book that I read, still make me say "hah?" from the beginning. Haha Maybe I am too naive, or the world is going crazy anyway? :p After all, it's quite fun, through the ending just sooooo "typical" , or you can say it "cliche". If you wanna read something fun, and doesn't make you think too much, try reading this one. :)

I actually read this like 3 years ago when i was still in the last level of junior high school, and i decided to reread again and it was actually quite fun to enjoy. Nothing special in theme or plot, but its worth to read because is just simply classic and cute for a romance novel.
