Death comes for everyone. Even Drake Chandali. The aging process that twists all unmated dragon shifters’ bodies into something useless has taken hold of his body centuries early. A mate could have reversed the process, but now it’s too late. To protect his team of enforcers, he leaves, and comes face to face with the woman he’d thought was human when he saved her from a fire months before. Except she’s not human. She’s a mate. Camilla Carrillo almost lost her family to wildfire. To discover she’s fated to mate a creature made of flame and rage, and become one herself, should be terrifying. Drake understands the dangers of not finding your Mate because like his King his body is betraying him and as he doesn’t want to let his team of Enforcers down he’s prepared to leave and be considered rogue which is an automatic death sentence. It’s just too bad that the little human he recently saved during a fire happens to be where he’s hiding. Not only is Cami maddeningly annoying but she also happens to be a woman who is capable of transforming into a Dragon but it’s far too late for Drake isn’t it ? Having started this series with the prequel The Mate I found it a lot easier to understand the politics and mating procedure than some other reviewers. If honest I really do think it’s essential reading to get the best out of this series and as I write it’s free on kindle so a definite recommendation. I liked this couple and could understand just why Drake who is stubborn and loyal really didn’t want to hurt anyone but himself. Now luckily Cami is just as stubborn as Drake is so she had no intention of ever leaving him in peace to brood and just slowly decay away. I confess I’d like more about the rotting King as he’s notably absent and his “council goons” are running the show. There are definitely those with their own agenda here but perhaps most intriguing is Rune the sneaky black Dragon who I’d definitely like to know much more about. If blunt apart from a slight alluding to a missing Phoenix and a shake up in Drakes team this particular book didn’t really move the overall plot along much but I’m hoping that the next book will combine romance with action and obviously ultimately a revolution ! This voluntary take is of a copy I requested from Netgalley and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair

Drake is coming to the end of his life, he has no hope of finding his mate, so he leaves his brothers behind only to come face to face with a woman he rescued months before from a raging fire. For all of the sexual tension between them, Drake knows Camilla is human, or is she? Camilla bears the mark of a dragon mate, yet she doesn’t even believe dragons exist, could she be Drake’s savior or has his decline gone too far to even dream of finding what his heart and soul crave? To try to turn her now could mean certain death alongside him, besides, her mark is shared by both Drake and the High King…which makes her doubly dangerous or possibly doubly strong. Could this female possess the strength to pull Drake for the brink of death? Would she even accept him? Drake is far from an open book, he is moody, standoffish and doing his best not to encourage Cami, but you know what they say about a hard-headed woman…Cami is fierce in her love of family, of those she cares about and in her loyalty to a man who she sees clearly needs someone on his side. Abigail Owen’s THE ENFORCER sizzles with tension, not only between Cami and Drake, but among the dragons, as well. Brilliant storytelling in a world created to fall into and believe in, page after page. Feel the heat, the passions and the turmoil as one dragon and one mate find each other only after it may be too late. An excellent addition to this series! I am so excited to be back with these HOT firefighting dragon shifters, and to meet some new ones in The Enforcer, the third book of the Fire’s Edge series by Abigail Owen. Drake was the only one who could save the family surrounded by fire, but because he is unmated, his body rebelled in his hurry to save them. It is Cami’s family that he rescues. She is not afraid of him. She has issues of her own, no one to turn to for help, until…Rune. He just happens to be in the vicinity. She is not afraid of him. She has issues of her own, no one to turn to for help, until…Rune. He just happens to be in the vicinity. He is a rogue, a dragon shifter with no clan and gathers those who need his help, offering them a safe refuge Dragons come in many colors, each with their own special abilities, other than the normal fire breathing and such. If dragons do not mate, they begin to age and death is not far behind. Drake is one of those dragons. They have their own political intrigue and narcissistic rulers. There is betrayal, danger, love and sacrifice. The kings make the laws, the enforcers, enforce them. Going rogue is a death sentence. Cami finds a friend in Skylar, who has her own secrets. For some reason, she is drawn to Cami and offers to help her, teaching her martial arts, while she is nursing Drake. At first she doesn’t know why she is drawn to him, but as she learns the ways of dragons, it becomes clear to her. At the moment, she is the stronger one. “…is your default setting asshole?” “I’m surprised he left you alone with me.” “He didn’t want to, something about you being a scary motherfucker…” Oh man, when a shifter dies…it brought tears to my eyes. Abigail Owen’s descriptive writing brought the scene to life and I could picture it in my mind. BUT, I’m not telling you who will no longer be with us. And Drake, that is his biggest fear. If he were to mate with Cami and not be healed, they would both die. We have a lot of fun verbal foreplay that turns HOT, steamy, sexy, playful, HOT…ADULTS ONLY HOT. “Did you know some dragon shifters can shift a single part of themselves?” I know what first popped into my mind and I wonder what pop into yours. LOL I love dragons in any shape or form. They are people first, doing all the things that humans do, after all, someone has to cook dinner, do laundry, and all those menial chores that need to be done day after day. I love Drake, Cami, and their merry band of misfits. Makes for some wonderful moments as their individual personalities are revealed. It has been a marvelous visit and I look forward to returning. Drake is a grumpy Gus, but he gets the job done and he does it well. His word is a good as gold. As his body continues to fail him though, Drake knows his time is up on finding his dragon mate. However, he was hoping for just a little more time before he has to say goodbye to those closest to him. Joining with this new group of dragons isn’t...ideal exactly, and darned if the human female he risked life and limb to save is staying with this motley crew. But who’s mate could she be? Joining with this new group of dragons isn’t...ideal exactly, and darned if the human female he risked life and limb to save is staying with this motley crew. But who’s mate could she be? Certainly not his, because he would have known when he saved her, wouldn’t he? Cami has lost her home to a fire and has discovered more than she bargained for as a new, potential Dragon’s mate. She hasn’t found her groove in this new environment, clinging strongly to her human life and family; their familiarity making her feel safe and secure. Drake seems familiar, but Cami doesn’t know from where or why. Regardless, she’s going back home where she feels she’s really needed. Yet when danger finds her and she unwittingly places her family in the crosshairs of said danger, it’s a good thing Drake has her back, because she may have bitten off more than she anticipated...or discovered what she’s been searching for all along. Drake and Cami cracked me up! Her sassiness and determination to dig under his thick hide and his stoic demeanor and silence in the face of a chatterbox just fanned the sparky little flames between them into quite an inferno of attraction and bonding! They fit well together, even when in denial of the obvious possibilities, but gracious what a journey it was to get there!! I am loving Abigail Owen’s dragons! The politics, the backgrounds, the friendships, alliances...all are intricately woven and intriguing in their own ways. However the romance is what draws me every time! Drake and Cami were very strong characters and their relationship alternated between butting heads and finding that someone strong enough to stand up to! But it made for wonderful tension and one heck of an intimate explosion! Really, there’s a whole storyline of goodies happening ... The Enforcer is book three of the Fire’s Edge series and could be read as a stand-alone. There’s a recap given that explains the political landscape and the current situation the guys find themselves in, however, I recommend reading the series from the start because there is an entirely delicious world of sexy dragons and their madcap journeys just waiting to be discovered! I received an advance reader copy from Netgalley and this is my honest review.

I liked this one, I really did. But even so, it took me too long to finish because I was so easily able to put it aside for other things. I really liked how this time the female mc already knew about dragons and the whole mating thing by the time she meets her mate. I also got pretty excited that this one was bringing in some things from The Rogue King. I really liked that book. I'm pretty ambivalent about Drake as a character. He definitely didn't have me swooning for him or anything, but he was a really great guy. One who is dying and continuously tortures himself in order to protect those he cares for the most. Sure he's broody and would rather grunt at you before using words, but that's attractive in it's own way. Isn't it? I really liked Cami in the beginning. She did the right thing in order to protect her family and was able to learn more about her fate and the world of dragon shifters. She was smart enough to know that she had to be sure before choosing a mate and was in no hurry. She wasn't afraid of Drake and the way she dealt with him was good too. But then she turned all selfish about her family and stupid and it was annoying. We all knew that Drake was dying, but we didn't really know just how bad it gotten for him. And far too early considering his age. In order to protect his brothers and his sister he makes one of the hardest decisions in his life. Leaving them and going with Rune. By this point, Drake can't even fly by himself and when he arrives at Rune's hideout, he passes out. For a few days. When Drake arrived, he was beyond shocked to see Cami. He had saved her and her family from a fire only a short time before and he had no idea she was a mate. But here she is and she's also the only one willing to deal with his bad attitude to take care of him. A good chunk of this book takes place inside Rune's hideout. So we see Drake getting all that hostility and not caring one bit. We also get to see Cami interacting with Skylar who is the next female mc in the Inferno Rising tie in series. We get a little bit more Rune here too, but not nearly enough for me. Dare I hope he gets his own book somewhere between these two series? Anyway. During this time Drake and Cami don't so much as get closer per se, but they kind of do. Does that make sense? Drake is also becoming suspicious of some things when he notices that occasionally he doesn't suffer from any of his symptoms. When Cami hears kind of bad news from her mother is when she becomes selfish and stupid. Selfish because she doesn't care about anything but getting back to them, and stupid because by doing so all she is doing is putting them in danger. Something she doesn't realize AT ALL. Come on, I thought she was smarter than that. But Drake refuses to let her go alone, so it's off they go together. Once they get back to her family's ranch, things only keep getting more and more complicated. Despite what they feel for each other, Drake is harsh in his pushing Cami away because he thinks he's protecting her. But at the same time his willpower is weak and he always eventually gives in. I will say their love scenes were pretty hot. While at the ranch, Drake catches the scent of an enemy and risks it by going back to his team to warn them. From there things go a little crazy and we get a lot more action. The Alaz team is on their way and the friction between these two teams is high. Toss in Cami being a mate and the mark she bares and it's got explosive possibilities. Now they just have to figure out a way for Drake to mate her without getting him labeled a traitor and dragging his team down with him. But they come up with a plan. It's a risky gamble indeed, but one that pays off. Especially when Rune shows up to play his part. What I hated was how this ended. I AM NOT HAPPY WITH THIS DECISION. (view spoiler)[I was shocked and absolutely hated it when Drake was appointed as team leader with Finn being removed. I don't want Drake to the boss. And I don't think he would make a good one either. (hide spoiler)] ARC provided by publisher via Netgalley.

The Enforcer by Abigail Owen is book three in her Fire’s Edge series. This was my introduction to this author, and it was a pleasant experience. The author provides adequate backstory from earlier books in this series, so I was able to completely follow the story. Each novel in the series is a standalone, but the backstory was still helpful. Drake Chandali is a red dragon shifter. Camilla “Cami” Carillo is a dragon shifter mate, though neither of them are aware of this initially. The characters are strong and vibrant, obviously since they’re dragons or dragon mates. The dialogue is fresh and engaging. Ms. Owen makes the concept of dragons seem absolutely feasible. She takes you into their brilliantly created world. I give The Enforcer 5 out of 5 stars and recommend it to all readers of paranormal/shifter romance. There is some explicit sexual content that may be offensive to some readers. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. But Cami can see through his gruff exterior and takes it upon herself to help him while he's there. He seems to start to feel better and when she decides to leave to see her family, Drake goes along with her to keep her safe. Drake and Cami are so different from each other but the chemistry is there for both of them. Cami is so outgoing, so friendly and warm compared to Drake. He just can't help but smile even if it's just to himself at times by some of the things she says or does around him. He's such a gruff curmudgeon but he doesn't want to let anyone get close to him since he knows he's dying. He thinks that even if he finds his mate at this late point it won't be enough to stop the disease from killing him and thus killing his mate in the process so he's decided not to even try. But Cami doesn't let that stop her from getting under his skin and making him feel something for her. When they are with her family they get a lot closer and she doesn't want to let him just give up but she has a hard time making him see her way of things. There are political twists going on and so dragons who are actually allies have to be in secret for now until things change or people will be killed. There's danger in this book because of this and I think that these things will get changed as this series goes on. I've read all the books in this series so far and it's been riveting, it's really kept me on the edge of my seat to see what will happen next. I love the Fire's Edge and Inferno Rising series from Abigail Owen. This is the third book in the Fire's Edge series and it builds into what we have already seen and there is a cross over with the first Inferno Rising series (which seems to take place at roughly the same time as this one and there are some cross over events). This book does work as a stand-alone, but really you should read the other books first, just because they are so good. The Enforcer is Drake, he's never found his mate and now he's slowly dying, even though the degeneration shouldn't have started to take place for another couple of hundred years. Not wanting to endanger his 'family' the Huracán team of dragon enforcers, he leaves them, becoming a rogue dragon. There he meets Camilla, a woman that he had saved previously, not realising that she was a dragon mate. I loved the romance between Cami and Drake. She not only gives as good as she gets but quite often has the upper hand where Drake is concerned. He's a grumpy old sod and really needs someone who is able to push him out of his comfort zone and challenge him. Of course, being his mate there is a happily ever after here, but they both need to work for it and really find out that they are 'the one' for each other. I can't wait for more in this series and in Inferno Rising. I think I know who were are going to read about next in both series. I just hope that I haven't got too long to wait until I can. I received a complimentary copy of this book through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Each book in the Fire's Edge series is STANDALONE: * The Mate (prequel) * The Boss * The Rookie * The Enforcer And the spin off series: *The Rogue King (Inferno Rising) My Review...... I’ve read the other books in this series. You don’t have to read the others, but it helps, it gives a little insight into where the story and characters are going (there is a story that loosely connects the books) A quick recap ..... there are six coloured dragon kings who rule their kingdoms (as usual there is conflict) this is where the “enforcers” come in, a team of dragons (each comprising of the colours) they “police” the dragon world, dispensing justice to rogue dragons. (These dragons set fires in the human world) the enforcers go in as firemen and put out the fires (but not with hoses, they draw the fire into themselves) They don’t interact with the humans, if they have to, they wipe their memories. The humans can’t know about them. The dragon world don’t have fertile female dragons, so they mate human women, but these women are special, if they can accept the fire a dragon breathes into them, then their life forces are connected. And the female will be able to turn into a dragon. A forced mating will kill the woman, but desperate times are making dragons force the issue. And so a band of rogue dragons are trying to rescue human women before they are taken!!! I’ve liked Drake since reading about him in the first book, a rough and gruff dragon, one you don’t want to cross, but a loyal friend and an awesome fighter. But Drake is hiding a secret from his brothers (the dragons he calls family) he’s dying. When a dragon gets to a certain age he’s struck with a disease, and Drake has been battling it for a while. A mate could probably reverse the process, but Drake is too far gone, and if he was to find her, he won’t sentence her to an early death (their life forces are joined so when one dies, the other joins their mate). The best Drake can hope for is to die in battle or fighting a fire. Or the only other option is going rogue and forcing his team to end him. A fire is closing in on Camilla “Cami” and her family, and the stupid herd of goats she’s trying to save aren’t helping. She hasn’t got long, and when the fire threatens to consume her beloved family, Cami has no choice but leave the goats and return to the car. But they won’t make it, they need a miracle, how will they get out of this alive? Drake is in the vicinity (he’s fighting the fire that a rogue dragon started) he’s got no choice but rescue the family trapped but the fire. What he doesn’t bank on is the feisty female who demands he doesn’t hurt her family. (He doesn’t eat humans in his dragon form) He turns from dragon to man, and then wipes all of their minds (he’s reluctant to wipe the woman’s mind, but no one can know about dragons) setting them on their way shouldn’t bother him, but the thought of letting the woman go, pains him, he pushes himself to let her go ..... Cami is in trouble, not long after somehow escaping the fire they were racing away from, she began to emit sparks from her body (strong emotions usually caused it) she’s scared, how did this happen? Why is this happening? Maybe she’s gone crazy, maybe there is something wrong with her!! Coming face to face with death has changed her, but not to this extent surely? Cami needs answers, and they come in the form of a stranger. He calmly explains that she’s a potential mate for a dragon!! Yeah right!! Until he shows his dragon form to her!! She doesn’t really believe him, but at this point she doesn’t really have another answer. Cami and Drake meet up again, but she doesn’t know who he is (but she thinks she knows him) Drake knows her, and he’s stunned, she was a dragon mate, how could he not have known? Probably the disease that is now ravaging his body. He’s left the only family he’s known and had come to Rune (the traitor dragon who steals potential mates from the Alliance) He needs a purpose until he can’t fight anymore (oh I forgot to tell you, Rune use to be his friend and second in command to the team Drake was in) Cami is sure she is Drake’s mate, Drake knows it deep down she is too, but he’s not going to claim her, she could die if he’s wrong, she could die if he did mate her, he won’t sentence Cami to death. So in Drake manner he keeps pushing her away. The story is a fast paced action read. The Alliance is not happy that Rune keeps helping human women evade them. And they are suspicious of the Huracan (that’s the name of the group) they keep finding women and mating them (law states they have to come to the a Alliance and receive a mate!!) I like this series and I can’t wait to read the next one. I like we keep in touch with previous mates couples. We have a group of unmated dragons (and now a few rogue dragons) that fight fires and an Alliance that is watching them carefully. 🦋

I like Drake. Liked him from the last book too. This one wasn't quite as exciting as the others were, but it's still Dragons, so it still grabbed my attention. I do wish there had been a bit more action with Drake, a little less moping on his part (snarling I guess would be a better, more manly word, but moping is what he was doing), but I guess it's to be expected considering he's convinced he's dying the whole time. As for Cami, there really wasn't enough time given to her. She could have turned out to be a strong character, stronger than she was portrayed here, had more time been given to developing her. We got to know her a bit as a strong willed woman who toughed her way through life on a farm with a large family, but it wasn't enough to really get to know her personality. All in all, I guess this one I'd have to give a 3.7, although I made it a 4 by rounding up. I think there was a lot of backstory, and forward story that was left unsaid, untold. I think Rune almost played a large role in the story but wasn't quite given the chance to really come out, and his crew could have been developed better as well. It almost felt as if Abigail just didn't have a feel for Drake and Cami so couldn't do them justice in this volume. There seems to be a lot going on in the background, though, and it all needs to catch up with where Inferno Rising is right now. Hopefully, next book, regardless who she concentrates on next, will bring us more backstory, more fleshing out of the world around these guys, and get us more involved with the politics and drama of the Kings and the clans and what's happening with all of them. Hopefully Ms. Owen will give us more than just the build up of the Dragon and his perspective mate (Levi and Lyndi next?) and bring us some real meat to the world she's created. There's so much going on in the background, yet that's where it keeps staying...in the background. I love your Dragons, Abigail Owen, and I firmly believe they have a story to tell. And while I enjoy some good, solid lovemaking, I need real substance in between love scenes. And I know you can do that because Inferno Rising proved that, as have the first 2 Fire's Edge books, so, please, let's get back to the story behind and around the matings. As always, Abigail's Dragons come to life for me with their descriptions and their antics. I'm just hoping to see more of their world. Looking forward to seeing who comes next and what you will bring to the table with the next volume.

This series just keeps on getting better and better. The Enforcer is here and I've just been waiting to get my hands on Drake's story. I refused to accept that he was too late to find his mate, it just wasn't a possibility in my mind. And of course, Abigail would NEVER do something like that to us. I LOVEDDDDDDDD Cami for Drake, she's a whole lot of sass and unafraid to speak up to Drake. As grumpy and moody as he can be, he does not scare her one bit. I'd say she accepted the dragon shifter life rather easily, but when it comes to her family, that wasn't something she was willing to say farewell too. The Enforcer (Fire's Edge Book 4) by Abigail Owen This is a “DRACARYS” HOT romance that will heat you up! The Enforcer is about a dragon shifter (Drake) who has split loyalties between his law enforcer team and the rogue dragon Rune who harbors and shelters dragon mates to save them from the corrupt and murderous King. This is the first book I have read by this author. I must admit that I enjoyed it so much. Drake is coming to the end of his life. Knowing he has no hope of finding a mate he leaves his brothers behind only find the woman he rescued from a fire months before. Drake knows that Camilla is human so the draw he feels for her doesn't make sense. While Camilla bears the mark of a dragon mate she does believe in dragons. The third book in Fire’s Edge, The Enforcer, Abigail Owens has delivered a well delivered story with dynamic characters and a compelling storyline. A great addition to the series and one I will be recommending.

Sparks are certainly flying in this dragon shifter paranormal romance! Whenever I begin one of these dragon shifter romances, I always find myself surprised how determined these men often are to ignore the signs that their mate is right in front of them. Of all the books in this series so far though, I would have to say that Drake had the most compelling and understandable reason. All of the signs point to say that Camilla is his destined mate, staring him right in the face. Her proximity, her Sparks are certainly flying in this dragon shifter paranormal romance! Her proximity, her touch, make him feel alive in a way he's never felt before. He feels drawn to her from the very first moment he lays eyes on her. And yet, he does everything within his power to try and push her away. The reason? He's dying. All unmated dragons eventually age die if they ultimately go too long without mating. This degenerative process usually impacts dragons centuries down the road, but for Drake it's hitting him earlier than anyone would have expected. He's too proud to admit to his shifter teammates the sad fate that he knows will overtake him soon, as he quickly starts losing the ability to move, so he decides to abandon them to die out in peace without the need for them to witness his decline. When he runs to an old friend to live out his last days, he's confronted with Camilla, and the very real possibility that she's his mate. Rather than feeling a sense of relief at finding the one person meant for him, he instead refuses to hope that she could be his salvation. Drake is convinced he's too far gone to be pulled back from the brink, and worries that if they should proceed with the mating process when they are in fact too late, his eventual death would result in Camilla's death too following their solidified link as mates. He vows he'll never risk her life in an attempt to save his own. However, just as much as I admired Drake's selfless determination to protect, you've gotta love Camilla's stubbornness above all else! She might be new to this world of dragons, mates, councils and enforcers, but when she acknowledges wholeheartedly that Drake is her destined mate, her reaction to his attempts to push her away are fabulous. Essentially, tough sh*t buddy! Yes, mating might eventually link them together in a way that would simultaneously cause her death with his own, but Camilla realizes that she would rather spend those few precious moments with Drake linked in the most firm emotional and physical connection possible, than to live out the rest of her life never having experienced it. She refuses to turn her back on him, and it was quite entertaining to see this slight woman stand up to an imposing and surly dragon shifter. You get it girl! This was a great addition to the series. The moments where we witness vulnerability from this seemingly brusque, tough dragon were by far the most compelling. He gives off this air as though nothing can infiltrate the protective barriers he's set up around himself, but Camilla has taken hold of his heart and refuses to let go. A missing element to this book which was featured prominently in the previous novels was the brotherly connection of these dragon enforcers. It makes sense in a way in that Drake didn't want his team to witness his decay, and he's leaving them behind so as not to have to struggle through an emotional goodbye. This results in the story being much more focused on his relationship with Camilla. There's definitely nothing wrong with that, and while we get a few scenes which highlight the brotherly affection of the Huracan Enforcer team, I think I would have enjoyed another scene or two involving these dragons coming together as brothers.

Review: This quick-paced novel is set on contemporary Earth with hidden shifter societies. Much of the world building is clearly established in other installments of the series, which means that this will be a more satisfying read if you have read the other books. You don’t have to have read the first in the spin-off series, Inferno Rising, (see my review of The Rogue King at https://fanscihist.wordpress.com/2019...), but it would enrich the reading experience if you did. Drake is a taciturn, dying man who defaults to grunting rather than using words – the typical alpha male character. I feel like I would understand his character better if I had already read the previous books in the series. Cami is a very impulsive, family-oriented, fearless, self-sacrificing person. I didn’t identify with her, but I can imagine that there are many who will. Because I didn’t truly identify with either character, I was not invested in their will-they-or-won’t-they relationship. This may also be because some details in terms of plot resolution were a bit thin. That is, some explanations were skimmed over and were a bit deus ex machina for my tastes. Much like with the main characters, I feel that much would be gained in terms of understanding of the supporting characters if other books in the series were read before this one. That being said, Skylar, Lyndi, and Dune are intriguing characters, and I liked the set-up for the next installment. I will probably read the previous books, as well as continue with the series. This felt different from the other books in the series, in a new and exciting way! It felt like a turning point in the series, and I love that it signals even more wonderful books full of daring women and courageous men...dragons. The history behind the heroine was particularly interesting, hearing about her family and their way of life, inserting the normal into the paranormal storyline. Each story continues to capture my attention and make me wish for it to be real. Camilla Carrillo was saved by a dragon...but all she remembers are dreams too wild to believe. Only they become more believable as weird things begin to happen around here. Fires start, seemingly out of thin air, and they seem to be ignited by her. Approached by a man who claims to be able to help her, she has no choice but to leave with him if only to save her family from the danger she might bring to them. Once safely in hiding, she learns she is a dragon's mate, only they don't know which dragon until she meets him. But what if she already has? Drake is dying, his body failing, and all hope of finding his mate in time to save his life has been lost. When he sees Camilla for the second time, he recognizes that she could save him. Only by saving him, she could be dooming herself to die with him. And that he cannot allow. Camilla was a heroine every woman can be proud of - she held her own, stood up for what she wanted, and she didn't take Drake's crap. She recognized that he was all bark and no bite...so to speak...and his stubborn nature would get him killed. I loved how she continued to come back to him, even when he would be rude and disrespectful, because she saw it for what it was. He was trying to protect himself and her, and once he recognized that they could be mates, it got even worse. To others he might appear selfish and misguided, but his actions were born of love and desperation. It was really quite humbling to read, as his was a character who was both strong of mind and weak of heart. He needed Camilla to make his heart strong as well. They needed each other, and when they finally acknowledged that fact, it made for a beautiful romance. The next book is, of course, going to be amazing! I can't wait to read it and learn more about the fiery world of dragons, their mates, and the newly discovered family of phoenixes. **I received a free copy via NetGalley and this is my honest review.**

*I received this book free from NetGalley on behalf of the author and Entangled Publishing.* I'm pretty sure that The Enforcer is my favorite Fire's Edge book. He's so enthralled by her that once they're safe he shifts into his human form and that's when they both feel it...that special draw to one another, but she shows no signs of being a dragon mate so he writes it off, wipers her and her family's memories, and doesn't look back. Cami on the other hand starts sparking fires. Luckily Rune showed up and offered her a safe haven since the last thing she needed was to finish burning down the rest of the family farm; it's not as if there was much left anyhow. "I'll make you a deal. I'll be silent if you can smile and say thank you." Drake, which we learned in the previous book, has health issues. He's gone too long without a mate and he's deteriorating quickly. So quickly that he decides to leave his team and crawl off to Rune's to die. But who is there to greet him...Cami. Cami doesn't have a memory of him, but she knows she's drawn to him. Drake won't risk his failing health killing a potential mate. And there in lies the best part of the story. He's crabby. She's determined. Their chemistry pulled me in and I could not put the book down. "Don't you see? I'd rather die with you than live without you." Abigail's writing is amazing as ever and the storyline completely captivating. I cannot wait to see what comes next in the Fire's Edge series. One day maybe even all the couples will reunite. One can hope at least.

Cami has a big learning curve to figure out the whole dragons exist thing as well as being one of them. She is not too amused at Drake’s bossy manner, or his refusal to consider their joining even though it would save his life. Drake spends a good portion of the story in failing health despite his chance to live. He is constantly pushing Cami away, stubbornly refusing to admit she is his mate and can save his life. Cami is a modern young women who loves her family and refuses to give them up which is the dragon way because humans are forbidden to know about dragons. The dragon politics in this series is quite complex and sometimes a bit hard to follow. There are good dragons, bad dragons, good dragons pretending to be bad dragons, and teams working for both sides to overthrow each other. Since their “rotting” king is willing to take the mates of others even though it kills them, more dragons are fighting against the established rulers. I liked Cami quite a bit, but I was less fond of Drake’s persistently pigheaded attitude and, at times, Neanderthal behavior. I know it is in his nature, still though, Drake pushes the limits even for his kind. This book is number #3 in the Fire’s Edge series.

This is the 3rd book in the Fire's Edge series and I would absolutely read the previous books before this one as events from those ones lead into this one. But he will spend the time he has left keeping her safe from the king. No matter what the cost. I really liked this one! Drake makes the ultimate sacrifice for the people he cares about and just shows his true character with every move he makes. Camilla shows how much she loves and cares about her family and what she is willing to do for them no matter what. I loved the intrigue and suspense but I really want to know more about the council. And I really want to know whether there are any on it that oppose the "rules" but are working behind the scenes so as to be able to spy on them. All in all a very enjoyable read and I love that it is starting to tie in with the happenings in the other series!

Although I highly recommend checking the other books out, I know I certainly intend on devouring the rest of the Fire's Edge books now.     This is such a vast interesting world. I loved getting a peek at another faction of it here. The brooding moody Drake and the strong spitfire Cami were great leading characters. The thing I really like about all of these books I've read thus far is that even the secondary characters are crucial to the plot and they are equally as entertaining! *Rune and Lyndi I'm looking at you specifically* I'm consistently left wanting to get to know them more. Oh yeah. After The Rogue King (of the Inferno Rising series) and The Boss (Fire's Edge series), I was very happy to see yet another fire breathing hot guy. Drake Chandili is dying. Even dragon shapeshifters die, when they don't find a mate. So he decides to leave his clan, before he becomes a liability to them in the war against the High King (yep, same one as from the Rogue King). But then he encounters Cami (Camilla), the woman he had rescued some months before from a big fire at her ranch. Oh yeah. Afraid she would do more damage to her family's home, she stays with the dragon. Drake can't help but notice that his body is less broken, when he is near Cami. But surely he can't take her as a mate, because he would condemn her to death, when his body is too far gone to be restored by a mate. Cami has had a lot to take in: shooting sparks from her body, a dragonshifter who took her away from her home and now a broody dark stranger, who she strangely finds very attractive. She wants to trust Drake, but she doesn't understand why. But when the High King comes after Cami and her family (because she is a potential mate for the King), she has to run and hide. And she has no choice but to trust the grumpy Drake to keep her safe. Sparks flying, literally. A wonderful read, with a great storyline, lots of tension and funny banter between Cami and Drake. What's not to love? Five out of five stars from me and a special thank you to Netgalley for providing the arc.

I'm relieved to say that I had no trouble following along as this book actually appears to tie in with the Inferno Rising series and on the flip side could be read as a standalone novel. Give me books for all them please! I can't wait to read the Fire's Edge books that preceded this one! I'm officially a fan. I received an ARC of this book from Entangled Publishing via Netgalley and this is my honest review.

This was SOOOO worth the wait for me. I’ve been dying to read Drake’s story after the last one and this does NOT disappoint!!! Drake is one of the original Dragon Shifters. He’s getting older and he’s body is slowing down and deteriorating, mainly because he doesn’t have a mate. With the outcome of finding a mate looking slimmer each day, Drake’s decided to bow out of his Enforcer duties and die as peacefully as possible. That is until he literally runs in to the one woman he’s been thinking about for months, because whenever he’s around her, he feels alive again. Cami doesn’t know what to think. One day she’s running from fires with her family, the next she’s living in a cave with Dragon Shifters. What has her world become? These last few months have been a crash course in Shifter ways and law, but nothing could prepare her for the man who’s arrived in her new home/cave. Why is she so drawn to him and why does she care? If you’ve been following this series, then you’ll fall in love with this book. Not only do we get to experience the chemistry between Drake and Cami, we learn more about the High Kings, old ways and old friends. Is the love story compelling? Of course, but it’s the on going story of the High King, Mates and Rogues that kept me turning the pages just as much as the love interest. I just can’t get enough of these Enforcers and their mates!!!!

The Enforcer is book 3 in the Fire’s Edge series and it was another great read. Drake Chandali’s body is failing, he is now over seven hundred years old and with no mate in sight, the end for this dragon shifter seems to be near. But the re-appearance of Camilla Carrillo, a human female he had happen to save from a fire threatening her family and home a few months ago, alters both their lives. This latest addition to the firefighting dragon series was filled with twists and turns and was definitely action packed. The chemistry between Drake and Camilla was awesome. I loved how different they were; he was so aloof with everyone, a bit on the grumpy side, but he was in extreme pain. And then on the flip side we have Camilla, having just learned that she is a potential mate for someone, leaving all she knows behind, she just takes it all in stride. It actually feels right to her. It does take awhile for Drake to believe that Camilla is meant to be his, but once danger surrounds them, any doubt goes out the window. Overall, I really did enjoy this book. It was actually great to see a bit of a tie-in with the Inferno Rising series. Looking forward to more books by this author. Thank you Netgalley and Entangled Publishing for giving me the opportunity to read this complimentary copy. All opinions are my own.

4.5 Stars I love a down trodden hero story! Make it paranormal and I just want to sigh..... This is the 3rd book in the series and although it could be read as a stand alone, I think it is helpful to read them in order in order to understand the world building. Drake is dying and he wants to do whatever he can to ease his passing on his band of brothers and his baby sister. He does not feel worthy to have a mate and is determined to be growly and pushy so no one gets close. After saving Camilla 4.5 Stars I love a down trodden hero story! Little does he know that his dying wish--to go away with the Rogue dragons, will bring him back to Cami again. Cami is drawn to him as well. turns out, mates can save one another. Now, Cami just needs to convince Drake he is worthy. Lots of political intrigue in this one. This series merges characters with the author's King series so reading both with help round out the story. I am looking forward to all of the enforcer's getting their HEA. Interesting characters and all of them are ready to tell the powers that be that the old ways are not going to work any more. Loved this one! *Complimentary copy provided via Netgalley for an honest review.

This is book 3 in the Fire's Edge series. And it's about Drake grumpy/dying enforcer of the Huracán team of dragon shifters. Drake saved her and her family but she has no idea since he wiped her memory. Later, she is approached by another dragon shifter who explains that she's a dragon mate and that puts her and her family in danger. She feels settles whenever she is around Drake, even if he wants nothing to do with her. I really enjoyed how much she pushed him out of his comfort zone. Pushing back at his grumpiness and being only herself. Lots of action just like the book before. This is a stand-alone but it helps to know some of the backstories around the Dragon clans and The Alliance. Received this ARC via Entangled Publishing and NetGalley. #TheEnforcer #NetGalley
